The son of Mosiah the first, he was a prophet king of the Nephites and caretaker of the sacred records.   He defended his people using the sword of Laban and established peace before confering the kingdom to his son Mosiah II. He is most well known for the inspiring sermon he gave, recorded in Mosiah 2-5.
